Walk Two Moons
This is the story of thirteen-year-old named Salamanca Tree Hiddle whose parents separated. She lived in Bybanks, Kentucky, which had lots of grass and was near the Ohio River. Her father then decided to move into town, so he packed everything they owned, except for her chestnut tree, the willow, the maple the hayloft, or the swimming hole that were really belonged to her. They drove three hundred miles north and stopped in front of a house in Euclid, Ohio. She didn’t like it because it had no trees and in front of ever house was a little square of grass. She asked her dad if that was the house that they were going to live in because she didn’t like the place. As soon as they parked a woman with wild red hair came out to see them her name was Margaret Cadaver, or Mrs. Cadaver. She thought that there might be at least a barn or a river or at least a swimming hole, but there was nothing except for that square of grass.
Later see knew that her mother’s birthday was coming up and her grandparents were coming to get her for a road trip. They were going to go to Lewiston, Idaho, and on the way her Gram asked her to tell them a story. She thought it was real weird because all the stories she knew were the ones that her Gram and Gramps told her, but she thought she could tell them the story of Phoebe Winterbottem. She started to tell the story, how all the kids were weird and dress with new clothes. Most of the kids had braces and most of the girls had the same hairdo, when they all saw Sal’s hair they all started to grab it and asked if she had shampooed it, if she ever cut it, or if she sat on it, and how did she wash it. She just walked away, and later at lunch she met a girl named Phoebe and they started to talk a bit, then Phoebe invited Sal for dinner. So after school they went to Margaret’s house and called her dad, they went to Phoebe’s house, and when they were going to phoebe’s house they heard Mrs.Patridge. They went to see her and she started to feels Phoebe’s face then Mrs.Patridge told her that she was thirteen but Phoebe thought Mrs. Partridge was a weird lady. When they got to Phoebe’s house her mom asked them how was their day, Phoebe told her mom about Mrs. Partridge and how she knew her age. Then, Sal told her and her mom that she felt her face because Mrs. Partridge was blind. Both Phoebe and her mom were surprised, and then Phoebe started to talk about Margaret she told Sal that Margaret was married and that her last name meant dead body.
At that point they all went to a resting area and her Gramp thought that a lady was in distress because she had engine [next page]
