A Career as a Chemist

Since the first day of school, I believed that education was a major impact in my life. It is in the soul of any great person and the foundation for success in any subject matter. Without education people would not be able to make a living, gain social stature, or stature in the world at all. In order to escape these classifications, as a student, I must make it my duty to go beyond limitations. Ensuring that I exceed in all aspects of the chemical field to pursue a career as a chemist.

In order to attain this goal, I must first achieve academic success throughout my entire high school career. This academic success is the accumulation of high ranging scores in most if not all of my courses. To receive these high ranging scores, I must fully grasp all the concepts within each class, which will be determined in my graded works. If I feel as though I am not performing to full potential, I will take it upon myself to acquire a tutor or engage in an after school tutoring session. No matter how time consuming or tedious these tasks may seem, my education is first and foremost in reaching a professional stage.

Since my standards are set so high, and since I know that I can achieve them, it would be in my best interest to select a college that met my qualifications. One that has an outstanding academic-wise reputation and a variety of programs in the science field that suit me. A school that had a large output of graduates under a chemical major having some impact or input in their school through an organization of some sort. The school that caught my eye was Xavier University in Louisiana. Although this school is known for its science demeanor, the least known information rendered my decision. The student ratio at Xavier is one that entitles an apt relationship with all my professors, giving me the comfort and support to do well at this institute. Xavier has a spectacular atmosphere that provides a positive, yet nurturing learning environment. With such positive exploitation, Xavier has proven to be the threshold for the continuation of my education. I believe Xavier will challenge me not only as a student, but also as a person, to devote time and energy into achieving a goal.

Four years at Xavier University would indeed prepare me for the professional stage. Within my four years in college I will have attained a BA in chemistry, the least number of degrees needed for a well paying job. This job being one, which required my skills as a leader, who could work effectively with others in a research laboratory. My leadership skills would be needed while gathering ideas about a cure for some deadly disease, that is depleting the world’s population. This is [next page]
