Who is the Tragic Hero: Creon or Antigone?
She is good in the sense that she is loyal to her brother, Polyneices, and followed the laws of god instead of the laws of man. SheЎ¦s bad in the sense of her sharp tongue and when she speaks to Creon the king. She dares to speak to King Creon in arrogance and pride. In Ode 2, line 11-13, it says, Ў§Drank the sunlight! But now a passionate word and a handful of dust have closed up all its beautyЎЁ. This is her tragic flaw and this brought her the tragic to come about. SheЎ¦s also, like Creon, better in status than any of us because she is a princess. However, she deserves what she did by trying to bury Polyneices. Before she has the heart to bury her brother, she already knew the consequences and was ready to die. She believed that she was doing the right thing.
The play titled Antigone by Sophocles has Creon as the tragic hero. Creon shows all of the characteristics of a tragic hero. He is Ў§neither good nor bad in the extremeЎЁ, he is in a high status than us, he receives pity through the audience, recognizes his weakness, and his downfall comes from his own self-pride.
