Jane declines this offer from Mr. St. John Rivers knowing that Mr. St. John is not in love with her, he is rather just intrigued with her make-up. The fact that Jane would suit him as a good missionary. After declining the offer presented to her by Mr. St. John Rivers, the relationship that they had began to be torn apart. Jane began to feel uncomfortable in the presence of Mr. St. John Rivers, and she began thinking of her past love with Mr. Rochester.

Jane once again decided to set off on one more journey, a journey that was yet very familiar to her. As she traveled back to “Thornfield” she began to realize that this was the only true place that she belonged and that Mr. Rochester’s love for her was very true and dear. When Jane arrived at “Thornfield” what she found were only the remains of the estate, the rest had been burned down in a fire. At this point Jane again felt empty, she feared that she would never find the love of her life Mr. Rochester. Jane, however still determined, inquired information about the fire from the cities people. She learned that Mr. Rochester was still living and was only six miles away. She immediately went off to find him, only to learn that he also was waiting for her long return. Jane now no longer had to cry out silently for love, she had found her true love and purpose in life that she had long been searching for.

Throughout the whole novel Jane is constantly looking for love. She goes from a loveless relationship with her great aunt, to a loveless environment at Lowood, to two loveless relationships with men that she thinks love her and worst of all they only use her and take advantage of her, making her question what the meaning of love is. Jane and the trumpet player are very much alike because they both are seeking love. The trumpet player much like Jane finding that Mr. Rochester’s love for her was true love, found his true love also. He found love from my mother and I. Everyone needs some kind of love in their life whether it be from a parent, spouse, friend or even a devoted pet. No matter how strong or independent an individual may seem, without love no one can feel happy and truly complete. Love is the foundation that we all build from. We all flourish with the proper love and support.
