One thing you should never try; gambling
Before I start my writing, I want to say that I had begun going to casino when I was 19 years old. The summer of the year 2003, when I graduated high school, I went to casino everyday for about a month. I ended up losing $3600, $1200 of them was mine, $1000 of them was my parents¡¯ and $1400 was my friends¡¯.
One of the human beings¡¯ characteristics makes people want to gamble naturally. Especially nowadays when there are legal places to gamble, where we call it as Casino people defend themselves that it¡¯s ok to gamble, since it is not against the law. Is it really ok if it is not against the law? I want to ask. I want to describe Casino as ¡°greedy and cursed place¡±. People ruin their life in Casino. Magazine ¡°The national Enquirer/star¡± describes going to casino as "It's just a matter of time before they're going to destroy their lives." People get depressed in Casino. People lose their motivation to live in Casino. It is a really scary place. Then why the Casinos are so popular and make so much money if casinos are place like those? That is because gambling is very addictive and people can¡¯t stop themselves being in casino. Once you start to gamble, it is really hard to ¡°quit¡± gambling, just like it is hard to quit smoking, having drugs, or drinking. One thing you should never try is gambling.
The scariest thing about gambling is that it is really addictive. I am a big smoker, probably smoke more than one pack a day. It is well known that cigarette is addictive, but as an experienced person, I would say that gambling, especially the ones in casinos are more addictive than smoking cigarette. Some people might say that they will just play for fun and if they don¡¯t worry too much about the money, it wouldn¡¯t be that addictive. But statistically 78 percent of people start gambling for only fun, and more than 90 percent of those people still get addicted to gambling. "Compulsive gambling progresses much like alcohol addiction. It starts out as a social activity, but for those prone to lose control, it can progress to a disorder Psychiatrist Dr. James Cocores, an expert on addictions, said. The greed that human beings have for the wealth and money is unlimited. Since people have chance to make money easily in casinos, casinos become very addictive to anyone, regardless the age or gender. One article from magazine Kiplinger¡¯s Retirement Report says that compulsive gambling can affect the rich, the poor and the in-between of all ages. Without help, a person with a gambling problem usually gets worse, moving from feelings of euphoria to despair and desperation as losses mount.
