In this pun Petruchio expresses his thoughts to Kate about her name. Petruchio says: “… my superdanty Kate, for dainties are all Kate’s...” (II.i.208-209). He is really referring to “cates”, or small pieces of cake. So Petruchio is pretty much being sweet to her and trying to make her want him. Kate is not very amused however.
In conclusion, William Shakespeare is truly a man of many talents. He is a perfect example of what every author should be. As this book shows just how many ways Shakespeare was a great psychologist and poet, and an inspiration for us all.
