In novels, emotions are used as a tool to cause the reader to change an opinion. The emotion of love played a large part in Les Miserables. At the end of the book when all is said and done Victor Hugo uses the emotion of love to heal. The words of Val Jeans headstone gives a
lasting reminder of the life the man had lived in Love.
