The Bean Trees
“ She despised her looks and had more ways of saying so than anyone I’d ever known.” Taylor’s helped changes her to someone with more confidence and esteem. Thereby, Lou Ann learns to support herself and her motherhood life in the absence of her husband. Taylor, on the other hand, also learns the fact that raising a baby is part of life. She learns this from Lou Ann, who always looks her beloved son with all her love. This makes Taylor to become more worldly and grown-up, which sparks the interest in the novel.
In The Bean Trees, Taylor being the narrator and speaking in first person reveals herself, which drawing the interest into this novel. Taylor also has a strong impact on Turtle and Lou Ann’s personalities as she touches their lives in her kind, loving ways. Even though she doesn’t physically pregnant, but becomes a child’s mother and puts all her effort to raise turtle with all her heart. She finally becomes Turtle’s legal mother. She is an admirable character who captures my interest as a reader and lights up the novel as the story moves on.
