The Comic View
all the actions of life are merely comedic episodes in a comedic world, allows one to accept the trials and tribulations of life and to tackle the struggles that are fundamental to life.
Literature is a microcosm for the world. The writer is the creator and the book is the creation of a world. Both contain scenes, plots, and even themes. The characters in both, though different in several manners, are ultimately the same. They all possess the same qualities, they all act the same way, and they all have the naturally comedic tendencies. The only difference is the creation of the world by a creator is seen as an original work, while a literary work is not completely original. All literature has been composed after great research into the master book, created by the master author. Everything that writers draw on is based on life. Writers are able to compose comedies because they are given much inspiration in the word in which they life. Though there is often material to draw upon, it is often said that comedy is harder to write than tragedy. This may be true. Comedy is a depiction of life. It is a view into the world as seen by the author. Thus, it is hard to create a replica of life, to draw a picture of the world, because it is hard to recreate the world that one lives in on the pages of a book or through the medium of a stage.
Moliйre was able to make comedy easily, he merely wrote about life. His direct portrayal of life provided all the comedic material the he needed. Though criticized by his contemporaries, time has proven that his transparent view into life has allowed for his comedy to become a classical piece of art. He was able to recognize the comedy that is the backbone behind all life, and he exploited it.
