1939 and in 1954, he received four Academy Awards. President Johnson presented Disney with the Presidential Medal of Freedom and Disney was awarded the Freedom Foundation Award in 1965. Disney died on December 15, 1966 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Los Angeles of circulatory problems. After his death, the Disney parks have continued to grow with the creation of the Disney-MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, and extensive sports complex in Orlando, which is home to the Atlanta Braves during spring training. Disney is also known for its Disney Cruise Lines and has branched out into other types of films and into music with Hollywood Records.
