planning and preparation, including 52 months of actual construction, Walt Disney World opened to the public as scheduled on October 1, 1971. Sadly Walt never got to see the opening of Disney World he died on December 15, 1966, during his production of his 19th Animatiefeature, “The Jungle Book.” Walt Disney brought many great things to this world with all of his success that is still shown today, but I would like to remind you of something Walt Disney said himself: “I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse.”
