However, the 30’s were very different. In the 30’s people lost everything, their homes, jobs, and everything they owned due to the crash in the stock market. With prohibition in the 20’s gangsters such as Al Capone rose to the scene illegally smuggling in alcohol into the U.S. gangsters looked like the one dressed in Document 12. With changing times a new kind of music also came out in the 30’s with the name of Swing. With front-runners such as Benny Goodman the new music was huge. Planes went from hardly flying to being raced like cars. Baseball however stayed the dominant sport however; new heroes such as Joe DiMaggio led. Not only were the 20’s and 30’s different socially they were also very different politically.

Politics were very different from the 20’s to the 30’s. I the 20’s the U.S. went through many different presidents such as. President Harding who led America with many scandals and wanted American to quote “Return to Normalcy.” After him came president Coolidge who led America in a time of great prosperity. However, things soon changed with the stock market crash but he wanted to let the depression run its course. After this President Hoover led America through the depression trying to get Americas economy boosted. Hoover was not well like and as you can see in Document 10 many people blamed him for the depression. However, in the 30’s FDR tried the hardest making many new programs to try to give Americans jobs and boost the economy. He made many new programs such as the FDIC, W.P.S, NRA, and the CCC. In Document 6 you can see FDR new what families were going through and did everything he could to help. The 20’s and 30’s were very different in the area of Politics.

As you can see the 20’s and 30’s were two very different times. Many things changed and many people lived life entirely different in 1930 then they did in 1920. Times went from plenty to very scarce in less then ten years, which was tough for Americans to handle. All aspects changed including the areas of economics, society, and politics.
