Why, by the late 1800’s, was China so in need of reform?
industrialize, and westernize in order to survive as an independent nation. Foreign Influence, war, and internal conflict helped china realized that they have to change their well-established traditional values. It took China a long time to regain complete control, but today China is a strong and well-organized society.
