Which factor, religious freedom or ecomnomic betterment, best describes the motivation behind the founding of the English Colonies.
In the end battle lines were drawn between the Natives and the English Settlers and indentured servants lost many of their right's and privleges. The motivation the indentured servants had show how they truly believed they would recieve Economic betterment and freedom by taveling to the New World, but in the end accomplished no such things.
Inconclusion, both Religious freedom and Economic betterment had a role in the formation of the Colonies. Religious freedom because people were trying to escape what they thought wasnt their religion and to escape persecution for trying to purify the Church and this led to the formation of both the Massachusettes Bay Colony and the Colony of Plymouth. Many people traveled to the New World to reach Economic betterment and to try to live free and to have certain rights. This led to the formation of Jamestown. Finally, whether religiously or economically people were after what they desired, and that was an overall better life.
