choreographers are killing creativity
Everything we are offered as consumers is becoming choreographed to a degree hitherto unimagined. Music, film, consumner goods, all have a palpable design upon us. everything betrays the intervention of the research group, the deliberation of consultants and the bloodless order and consistency that comes from creativity tramelled into pre-planned, internally consistent and utterly lifeless forms. the body, the movements, the sound, the clothes, the makeup, the names, the history, the tastes, the sexual partners, the opinions of the celebrities we admire are carefully orchestrated for maximum economic return. Inconsistency, originality, randomness, reality, truth have been banished from our lives as we are presented with 'brands' that diminish our imagination and dissolve our individuality. Improvisation is banished and rehearsal has become the order of the day. Nothing must be left to chance as the entertainment/branding complex manipulates reality into its most becoming pose and in doing so takes the power of accidental, the half-formed, the ill considered out of our lives. In every aspect of our lives the shiners but a brittle sheen onto everything.
