A Rose For Emily" vs. "The Life You Save May Be Your Own"
went to her funeral”, and finally the death of Homer, “The man (Homer) just lay in the bed”. And in “The Life You Save May Be Your Own” nobody at all dies, there is just disseat. My final difference is that “A Rose For Emily” takes place during a long period, “But for almost six months she (Emily) did not appear on the streets”. I believe that “A Rose For Emily” went on for about thirty years and in that time span Emily freakishly kept a dead decaying body in her upstairs room while she had her way with it. On the other hand “The Life You Save May Be Your Own” only took place in about a weekend, in which Mr. Shiflet scammed an old lady got some cash, a car and broke a young lady’s heart.
“A Rose For Emily”, and “The Life You Save May Be Your Own”, two different stories with a different theme but even with those differences they still have a lot of qualities that make them one in the same. They both deal with crazy people with disabilities, they are both southern grotesque and, and both are filled with disseat and self- gratification. But these stories can also be thought of as exact opposites. Like in “A Rose For Emily” the main character is a woman. Or how “The Life You Save May Be Your Own” has nothing to do with death. In Conclusion these stories share many similarities and many differences. Whose to say different other then the authors.
